Cease Fire

Sometimes there's a feeling
deep down in your mind
That feeling is anguish;
the war of man-kind.
It begins as a whisper
that quietly says,
'Are you sure of yourself,
in these war-torn days?'
The pain is bright white;
the blood crimson-brown.
So many bombs dropped,
so many men down.
How can you kill
out of hate and anger?
When you lose your loved ones
because of the danger?
If everyone stopped fighting,
this plight wouldn't be dire
Maybe then there'd be freedom
and we could cease all our fire
But... Why think up reasons
to make sure they're dead?
"They killed all our children!
We'll bathe them in red!"
But stop for a moment
and think to yourself:
'How can I kill a man
so much like myself?'
Same arms and legs
Same eyes and nose
Different coloured skin,
but who really knows...
...what's in their thoughts?
what do they feel?
Grief, my friend;
it's what makes them real
Do not rebuke them,
nor think them a monster
Do not torture them,
nor put them on the roster
To bomb their cities,
and drive them from their homes
To belittle the refugees
who must now sadly roam
across all the countries
who hate and despise them
They are shown no pity
their freedom's a sham
As no one can handle
always being hated
they attack like trapped animals
until their vengeance is sated
And so mark my words
in this desolate hour:
they will never listen
the earth they will scour
For the enemies they've made,
in their minds with no passion;
they see them as fiends,
in a barbaric fashion
The world will go on:
with no love; a sad fate
And we will all suffer
from this self-inflicted hate
Now please, By my guest,
and run off without thinking
about how humanity is separating
and our survival rate is sinking
Meet anger with anger,
and death with cruel death
Then go off and kill;
taste their blood on your breath
Take away their innocence
with your guns and your knives
Pierce their red hearts
cut their eyes like small chives
Disembowel and torture;
hurt and cast mayhem
Can nobody see...
you're acting just like them?
When you act like they acted
how does this make you better?
When mothers come home
to that army addressed letter
Now we've all lost
and we're all dead on the inside
We're all rabid animals
we've become desensitized
What happened to love?
Can't you remember
that we share something special;
like that day in December
When a man was born
of a god so divine
He tried to bring togetherness;
with love he did shine
And he was killed too...
was it all due to fear?
That we crucified a loving man
because he saw a vision so clear
That in the deepest, dark recesses
of every man's soul
That inside the heart,
there resides a black hole
We don't know
if it's government propaganda...
Or maybe that evolution has
a different agenda
But somehow we've managed
to enter a mind-set
that we are all gods
and our demands must be met
At the expense of others
it just doesn't matter
how we get out power;
how many lives we shatter
So because of our anger
and our mislead pride
in country that's really
run from the side
We will never ever learn;
we'll cast the world into flames,
we won't lay down our arms...
it will never be sane
But... I wait for a day
when I can be proud of my heritage,
where no one is imprisoned
like animals in cages
Where humans can be free
and safe from each other,
living peacefully
every child with a mother
But that will never happen
until someone gets a clue
CEASE FIRE my friends
or you will die too.
